Chancellor's Message

“Om Vishwani Deva
Savitardurtani Parasuva
Yadbhadram Tannaasuva”

How beautifully sublime is this holy mantra from the Vedas! It captures the essence of the very purpose of human existence — to imbibe the good and discard the evil. This divine mantra was very close to the hearts of Maharishi Dayanand and Mahatma Hansraj, the inspiration and founder of the DAV movement respectively, and today it forms the bedrock of the ethos and values of DAV.

DAV – Dayanand Anglo Vedic – represents a concept that beautifully amalgamates our ancient heritage with modernity. “Dayanand” and “Vedic” symbolize the richness of Maharishi Dayanand’s philosophy and the profundity of Vedic wisdom, while “Anglo” signifies the best of Western knowledge. The DAV movement remains steadfastly balanced between these guiding principles.

Our goal is therefore clear: at DAV, we aim to provide education and knowledge that is at par with the best in the world, while remaining firmly rooted in our ancient Vedic heritage. We strive to set and achieve the highest standards in education, as our sublime mission is truly man-making.

I am immensely delighted to express my firm conviction that DAV University, Jalandhar shall manifest the highest standards of academic excellence. The university shall act as a harbinger of a new era in higher education, further enriching the illustrious traditions of the DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi.

DAV students must get the best of both worlds — competing globally for knowledge and opportunities, while simultaneously building strong and noble character rooted in Vedic values. At DAV, we fully understand that the aim of education is not merely to impart knowledge, but also to build character.

As part of the DAV organization, we pledge ourselves once again to uphold the virtues of humanity, honesty, and truth. In a society facing turbulence and moral challenges, we continue to cherish the timeless message of the Rigveda. Progress, we must remember, rarely occurs without sacrifice and dedication.

“Be glorious and dazzling like the Sun,
remove all vices and dispel darkness
from the world within and without.”
